Moving within the UK
J.A. Steel & Son were established in 1899 and have moved thousands of customers locally and nationally. All operatives are fully trained and we operate a full in-house quality standard.
We are members of The British Association of Removers, FEDEMAC European Movers, The Household Goods Forwarders Association of America and are one of the longest established removal companies in the United Kingdom. Over 50% of our moves are gained from recommendations. We have also installed the very prestigious Quality Standard Kite Mark BS EN 12522. Only companies operating to the highest standard are awarded this kite mark and we look forward to sharing the benefits of this standard with our customers in the near future.
The first step is to plan your move. We will sit down with you in your home, free of charge and without any obligation, to help you determine your needs and plan your move.
Our British Association of Removals certified operatives will be assigned to your removal and will prepare your consignment for the onward journey. Our operatives take time and care in the process of your move.
You can be assured that the removal of your household furniture and effects will be handled with the utmost care and professionalism.
During your move your furniture will be soft blanket wrapped which provides maximum protection, especially to polished surfaces. Your settees, armchairs and mattresses will be wrapped in purpose-made polythene covers. Which offer the ultimate protection and are applied prior to removal from your premises, thus ensuring that your possessions arrive at their destination in perfect condition.
Our staff are expertly trained in the art of removals. With our own in-house training department we ensure that we maintain our high levels of service.
If your goods require storage each package will be numbered to correspond with the packing inventory that we will prepare on your behalf. A copy will be given to you by way of receipt for the items removed. We operate over 30,000 sq/ft of fully containerised storage at our depot. We also have 24 hour Red Care Security.
Floor protectors will be placed as required during the moving process to protect carpets.
Transit wardrobes are carried so that your clothes can be transported hanging up to make sure they reach their destination crease free.

Caring for the environment
J.A. Steel and Son recognise that we have a social and moral responsibility to help keep our organisation's operating procedures as environmentally friendly as possible.
We operate modern Mercedes vehicles, chosen for their ability to keep noise and pollution to a minimum and also their greater reliability and fuel efficiency. Packaging materials are now made from recyclable products where available.
Insurance cover
At J.A. Steel and Son we will of course be taking great care with your removal. However moving and storage places furniture and effects at an increased risk so insurance cover is always advisable. You furniture and effects will be insured throughout the removal process giving you peace of mind.
